City Woman’s songs encompass the emotional complexity of love, its aftermath, and personal growth, blending lively melodies with vivid storytelling. The most recent single “Turn Red” joins previously released City Woman songs including the empowering “Mr. Blue Jeans,” which cleverly flips the script on being ghosted on a date, and “City Woman,” a country-kissed single about opposites attracting … until they don’t.
City Woman brings more of these deeply confessional, vulnerable, yet self affirming tones central to her cathartic, candid, and curative recent EP, What Scares Me the Most — which will also be included in the album. Tracks like “Piece of My Heart” capture the difficulty of letting down emotional barriers to give and accept love from someone else. Over a melodic acoustic arrangement, Rosie sings “So here’s a little piece of my heart / I’m scared of letting down my guard / I’m scared to give it all at once / But I can give it part by part / So here’s a little piece of my heart.”
As ROSIE learns to share a piece of her heart in the track, she shares a piece of her life with her listener. About the album, ROSIE shares, “This album is the story of the last three years of my life, the different cities I’ve stayed in, and the lessons I’ve learned about myself in each one,” says ROSIE about City Woman. “One city taught me how to lose someone with grace, one taught me how to love someone with caution, and, most importantly, one taught me how to love myself with no conditions.”
Last year, ROSIE released moving full-band performance videos for “Blood Moon” and “I Was Wrong,” and also teamed with Nashville riser Caleb Hearn for the folk-pop charmer “Break a Promise,” their second duet. The duo first came together in early 2024 for “Little Bit Better,” a viral gem that garnered over 16M streams within two months of release. Ever since, she’s been building toward her fullest artistic statement yet: City Woman. Stay tuned for more ROSIE.
