Nashville-based singer-songwriter MORGXN has signed with BMG Records and announces the October 10 release of his new EP HEARTLAND: PART II. After amassing over 1 million streams on HEARTLAND: PART I, this second installment completes a genre-blurring statement of identity, resilience, and reclamation — both a love letter to where he’s from and a roadmap to where he’s going.
Along with the news, MORGXN shares his new single “EVERGREENS,” a serotonin-boosting song with an earworm of a chorus, co-written with Kyle Ryan (Kacey Musgraves). The track arrives with a scenic music video, complete with a pick-up truck sing-along and a fortune teller, reminding us that love is all we need in life to face the great unknown.
About the new song, MORGXN says: “Like every great body of work – the project is done and then one song flies out. That’s this one, the last song written for HEARTLAND. It feels like the most joyous love song I’ve ever written and very much a reflection of the life I’m building with my husband on our farm in the literal heartland. The instrumentation felt really important to keep it stripped to organic sounds, and I love the music video we made, too. An all-female band riding in the back of a pick-up truck, because trucks are for queers and women too.”
“EVERGREENS” follows the gospel-tinged title track “HEARTLAND,” which was released in August. MORGXN recently spoke with People about his HEARTLAND project, which reclaims his Nashville roots while subverting heteronormative tropes. Later this month, he’ll partner with the American Pops Orchestra and Symphony of the Americas for performances of Carole King’s iconic album Tapestry, bringing the special symphony concert to Washington, D.C., followed by Fort Lauderdale in October. See below for more details or visit his website.
In addition to his artistry, MORGXN continues to use his platform to support mental health, LGBTQ+ advocacy and women’s reproductive rights. On September 22, he will perform at Noise for Now’s We Save Us, a benefit for abortion access at Nashville’s Exit/In, with proceeds supporting Access Reproductive Care Southeast. After appearing on Good Morning America, where he discussed his grassroots Pride initiative, MORGXN led a fan-driven campaign raising $10,000 for The Trevor Project.
With heartfelt songwriting, raw emotion, and a clear vision of what love and home can be, MORGXN continues to establish himself as a powerful storyteller and fearless advocate for authenticity in both art and life. His music, which combines indie-pop sensibilities with soul-baring lyricism, creates space for vulnerability, identity, and connection. Now, with both installments of HEARTLAND, he delivers his most intimate and expansive body of work to date.
MORGXN is known for his breakout hit “Home” (feat. Walk the Moon), which landed in the Top 10 at Alternative Radio. A former Broadway performer (Spring Awakening), he’s played major festivals like Lollapalooza, Firefly, and Hangout, and shared stages with X Ambassadors, Skylar Grey, and Miike Snow. His music has been featured on ABC, HBO, NBC, and PBS, including performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Kelly Clarkson Show.
