The band HONEY CHILD proudly announces the release of their powerful new single, “Purple Heart,” a heartfelt tribute to the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Inspired by a deeply personal family memory, the song was written by songwriter Glenda Baker, whose emotional connection to the military runs deep.

Glenda recalls holding her great-uncle’s Purple Heart medal as a young girl—an honor he received for his service and sacrifice during wartime. “My grandmother would let me hold it,” she shares. “Even as a child, I knew it meant something sacred. That medal told a story of courage, loss, and love of country. That memory stayed with me, and I wanted to give voice to it.”

From this intimate memory, “Purple Heart” was born. When HONEY CHILD heard Glenda’s story and the early version of the song, they immediately knew it belonged in their repertoire. With their signature blend of rich harmonies and roots-driven instrumentation, the band brings the story to life—honoring all who have worn the uniform and the families who stand beside them.

“Purple Heart is more than just a song—it’s a tribute,” says Rick Jones, Frontman of HONEY CHILD. “It’s about recognizing the sacrifices made by service members, past and present. It’s about remembering that freedom isn’t free.”

In partnership with veteran support initiatives, HONEY CHILD is using this release to raise awareness and appreciation for those who have proudly defended our country. The band encourages listeners to reflect, remember, and support veterans in their communities.

“Purple Heart” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
