Sydney-based indie electronic trio Mansionair share their soothing new single, “The Way You Move in Me,” out now via Arista Records. The gorgeous, synth-drenched track comes with a trippy visualizer and is the third taste of the group’s highly anticipated third album, Some Kind of Alchemy, due out October 10.
Opening on a warm synth sequence and Jack Froggatt’s delicate coo, “The Way You Move in Me” begins in an intensely intimate space. But as the song expands to make way for Alex Nicholls’ driving kick drum and Lachlan Bostock’s glistening guitar work, his voice rises through the glowing atmosphere: “Maybe it’s the way you move in me / Maybe it’s the look on your face / Saving me from myself / Just don’t go, stay the same.” It’s immersive from top to bottom.
Speaking to the new single’s connective theme, Mansionair asked their followers to share videos of “the people who mean the most to you.” They edited those together into a moving Instagram clip, writing, “If you ever needed proof of how much love is out there… here it is.” “The Way You Move in Me” follows “ATLAS,” which inspired Rolling Stone Australia to write, “[Mansionair are] returning to the electronic roots that first defined their identity, while expanding into a more nuanced and emotionally resonant space … Clocking in at just under 7 minutes, it’s a euphoric yet introspective track that oscillates between ambient stillness and pulsing urgency.”
Before that, the group launched their new era with the hypnotic and club-ready “Lose Yourself Again,” which became the most-played track on Australia’s tastemaking Triple J radio, hit top 10 on multiple Shazam charts, and scored top 40 airplay status on Australian radio overall. Mansionair also went on Triple J’s flagship show Home and Hosed to discuss the breakout cut. They debuted some of the songs that will comprise Some Kind of Alchemy earlier this year with an intimate, in-the-round hometown show unveiling their new dynamic DJ/live hybrid Sahā Set approach — watch performance videos for both “ATLAS” and “Lose Yourself Again.”
With over 377 million Spotify streams to their name, Mansionair are sharing their first new music in three years following their 2022 album, Happiness, Guaranteed. and 2019 debut Shadowboxer. A decade in, Mansionair have amassed some impressive achievements: their 2014 self-released international break-out “Hold Me Down”; ARIA Gold-certified hits “Easier” and “Astronaut (Something About Your Love),” the latter of which entered Billboard’s US Rock Airplay Chart; the Grammy-nominated “Line of Sight” with Seattle’s ODESZA; viral collabs with superstar producers Claptone (“Right Into You”) and Dom Dolla (“Strangers”), and a buzzy appearances at festivals like The Great Escape, Lollapalooza, and Coachella.
Some Kind of Alchemy was entirely written and produced by Mansionair — a first for the band — and thus stands to be their most personal, perfected, and impactful yet. Stay tuned.
