🎸 Indianapolis-based “fake emo” band Summerbruise has just released their latest single, “Man! I Feel Like A Dumbass!”—a raw, hilarious, and emotionally charged track that sets the tone for their upcoming full-length album, Infinity Guise, dropping September 19 via SideOneDummy Records.
To celebrate the release, the band has announced a limited run of shows this fall as part of the Fake Emo Fight Night Tour, joined by their friends dear Maryanne and MooseCreek Park.
💥 Angsty, brutally honest, and laugh-out-loud funny, “Man! I Feel Like A Dumbass!” is an anthem for anyone who’s ever second-guessed themselves, spent their last $10 on regret, or found themselves mentally wrestling with their own thoughts. True to Summerbruise’s signature style, the song walks a tightrope between self-deprecating humor and emotional chaos—emo poetry for the perpetually overwhelmed, confused, and emotionally hungover.
🎤 Lead vocalist Mike Newman shared his thoughts on the track:
🌟 Summerbruise began as a solo project by Mike Newman (he/him) in 2015 and has since evolved into a full band featuring Stanli Fryman (she/her) on drums, John Parkison (them/he) on bass, and guitarists Mitch Gulish (he/him) and Cora Kunda (she/her). Now proudly calling themselves Summerbruise 2.0, Infinity Guise marks their first official release as a fully collaborative unit.
💀 Death has been a recurring theme in their music, both haunting and driving their creative output. Two pivotal losses—the death of Mike’s father in January 2017 and the passing of a close friend eight months later—occurred shortly after the release of their debut EP, Bummer Vacation. These events deeply shaped their subsequent work, including 2022’s The View Never Changes and 2024’s Better Vacation, both of which received strong support from fans.
🎧 Recorded at Nick Starrantino’s Deadend Studio on Long Island, Infinity Guise is a 12-track emotional tug-of-war between Newman’s vulnerable lyricism and the steady, collaborative energy of his bandmates. The full tracklist is available below.
