Tennessee-based artist Lexi Langley releases a poignant cover of Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need,” via River House Artists. In September, Langley posted a video of herself singing the Top Ten smash with a simple piano accompaniment, making waves across the internet. The video currently sits at over 3.6 million views on TikTok with comments from artists such as The Chainsmokers, Maddie & Tae and more.
“I love the original version of ‘Man I Need,’ but the more I listened to it, the more I felt like the lyrics demanded a kind of soulfulness sonically,” shares Langley. “That soul, that longing is really what I wanted to capture when making this record. With the wonderful help and magic hands of producer Logan Maggio, I am honored to say we reimagined this song into a powerful ballad. I hope you enjoy this song late at night in a fast food drive-thru, slow dancing in the kitchen with your partner or just walking along the sidewalk. And I hope you love it as much as I enjoyed making it.”
Hailing from Tallahassee, Florida, Langley discovered her love for music early on, but didn’t begin singing in front of people until her teenage years, performing with Christian worship groups. Her natural vocal ability quickly became apparent – especially impressive considering she has taken only two vocal lessons in her life. After graduating from Wake Forest University, Langley decided to follow another one of her passions, law, and is currently enrolled at the University of Tennessee Winston College of Law.
With a sound rooted in funk, soul and R&B, Langley draws inspiration from artists such as Madison Ryann Ward, Silk Sonic, Olivia Dean, Teddy Swims, Amy Winehouse and Adele. And even though she has created music for much of her life, her rendition of “Man I Need” is her first official release – showcasing her rich tone and unexpected vocal power and marking her as an artist to watch in 2026 and beyond.
